ColdFusion is not DEAD!
Ontarget is a ColdFusion development company and we’re here to tell you “ColdFusion is not DEAD!” You could definitely take a poll of developers and the overwhelming response would be “it’s dead.” There are not a lot of ColdFusion development companies. There are a lot of ColdFusion legacy systems out there and even new development efforts using ColdFusion (CF).
Using a ColdFusion Development Company
Ontarget has been working with CF for over 10 years. We have built numerous systems using CF as well as migrating CF systems to other web-based languages like PHP. Migrating ColdFusion to PHP isn’t hard if you understand both environments.
We run into a lot of situations where a legacy system was either built by an old ColdFusion development company or built by one individual internally. If the company stops supporting ColdFusion or if the employee leaves the company is left with an important system that no one knows how to maintain. That’s where we come in.
We can come in and provide ongoing maintenance to make sure everything works correctly or come in and migrate your ColdFusion system to PHP or another web platform. It’s very important to make sure you use a ColdFusion development company that fully understands both programming languages if you’re planning on migrating. You can’t always understand how a system works by looking at the user interface. There can be some very important aspects coded into the ColdFusion code that aren’t obvious from the user interface.
CF has its benefits and we think it’s gotten a bad rap over the years. It’s a platform that enables high-speed development through a consistent foundation of plug and play elements.
ColdFusion is a commercial rapid web application development platform currently owned by Adobe. Adobe is continuing the enhancement of ColdFusion. It’s far from a sun setting position. In fact, this year celebrates the 20th year of its existence as a programming language.
Please give us a call if you have a ColdFusion system and need support, if you’re interested in creating a new system using ColdFusion or if you’re wanting to migrate from ColdFusion to PHP.
